LINDE Philippines has commissioned its $10-million nitrogen and hydrogen production plants at the manufacturing complex of JG Summit Olefins Corp. (JGSOC) in Batangas City, which will supply the industrial gases requirements for JGSOC's naphtha cracker plant expansion.

The new facilities came on stream in April 2022.

The project includes the installation of an Ecogan Nitrogen generator, the latest addition to Linde's range of compact on-site nitrogen plants, featuring an innovative, energy-efficient design. Linde has also installed a pressure swing adsorption plant recovering and purifying byproduct hydrogen from the naphtha cracker.

Linde said that nitrogen will be supplied throughout the naphtha cracker complex, and nitrogen and hydrogen will be supplied to JG Summit's polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plants.

JGSOC is the only integrated PE and PP resin manufacturer in the Philippines. The naphtha cracker, which is designed to primarily produce polymer-grade ethylene and polymer-grade propylene, provides feedstock for the downstream PE and PP polymerization plants which, in turn, provide a stable supply of PE and PP resin for the local plastics industry.

Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company. For more than 20 years, Linde has been supplying industrial gases to the JG Summit petrochemical complex, and the commissioning of this new facility marks the start of the next phase of this partnership.
